Terms of Service

Article 1 (Purpose)

  1. These Terms govern the conditions and procedures for using the EAI Global service (the “Service”) provided by the East Asia Institute (the “Institute”), as well as the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of members and the Institute.

Article 2 (Definitions)

  1. The terms used in these Terms are defined as follows.
    1. “Service” means all services through which the Institute provides and makes available content such as research reports via its website.
    2. “Member” means a person who agrees to these Terms, completes registration, and uses the Service.
    3. “Content” means all materials provided through the Service, including report bodies, summaries, figures, and attachments.
    4. “Paid Content” means content whose whole or part may be viewed only upon payment.
    5. “Custom Report” means a tailored report produced and provided separately at a user's request.

Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of the Terms)

  1. These Terms take effect when posted on the Service.
  2. The Institute may amend these Terms within the scope permitted by applicable law.
  3. When amending the Terms, the Institute will announce the effective date and the reasons for the amendment on the Service in advance of the effective date.
  4. A member who does not agree to the amended Terms may terminate the use agreement by withdrawing membership.

Article 4 (Provision and Paid Operation of the Service)

  1. The Service is operated on a paid basis.
  2. The whole or part of a research report body may be provided for a fee.
  3. The scope and price of Paid Content are displayed separately on the Service.

Article 5 (Scope of Free Access)

  1. The homepage and the publications list pages are freely available to everyone.
  2. Part of a research report body may be disclosed free of charge.
  3. The scope of free disclosure may change according to the Institute's policy.

Article 6 (Registration and Account Management)

  1. Registration is required even to view the freely disclosed portions of a report body.
  2. To view Paid Content in full, separate payment is required after registration.
  3. Members must provide accurate information at registration and are responsible for managing their own accounts.

Article 7 (Paid Content and Payment)

  1. Payment for Paid Content and Custom Reports is made through the payment methods provided by the Institute.
  2. For recurring products such as monthly subscriptions, the billing cycle and price are notified to the member before payment.

Article 8 (Custom Reports)

  1. Custom Reports are charged separately from the general Service.
  2. The scope, price, delivery time, and other conditions of a Custom Report follow the terms agreed in the individual contract or order.

Article 9 (Refunds)

  1. Refunds after payment for Paid Content are handled in accordance with applicable laws and this Article.
  2. Refunds are restricted in each of the following cases.
    1. Once the paid portion of a report has been opened (displayed) in the member's browser after payment, the amount paid for that content is not refundable.
    2. Due to the nature of digital content, content whose viewing has commenced is excluded from refunds.
  3. Upon withdrawal of membership, a monthly subscription fee is refunded by one of the following methods.
    1. The remaining balance is refunded on a pro-rata (daily) basis for the unused days.
    2. Where remaining credits exist, an amount equivalent to the remaining credits is refunded.
  4. Other refund procedures and methods follow applicable laws and the Institute's refund policy.

Article 10 (Copyright and Use Restrictions)

  1. Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the Content provided through the Service belong to the Institute or the rightful holders.
  2. Members may not reproduce, distribute, transmit, publish, or create derivative works from the Content for commercial or non-commercial purposes without the Institute's prior written consent.
  3. A member who violates this Article bears responsibility under applicable law.

Article 11 (Obligations of Members)

  1. Members must not misappropriate or fraudulently use another person's account or payment information.
  2. Members must not engage in any act that interferes with the normal operation of the Service.

Article 12 (Withdrawal and Loss of Membership)

  1. A member may request withdrawal at any time through the procedures within the Service.
  2. If a member violates these Terms or interferes with the normal operation of the Service, the Institute may restrict or revoke the membership.

Article 13 (Disclaimer)

  1. The Institute is not liable for any suspension of the Service due to causes beyond its control, such as force majeure or causes attributable to the member.
  2. Content is provided for research and informational purposes; the Institute is not responsible for the outcome of any decision a member makes based on the Content.

Article 14 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

  1. These Terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. Any dispute relating to use of the Service is subject to the court determined by applicable law.
