The Grand National Party (GNP) formed a Public Verification Committee and held a presidential candidate hearing during its primary process. However, this panel survey revealed that more respondents believed these candidate verification activities did not help resolve suspicions or were not very helpful (65.2%) than believed they were helpful (31.0%). This suggests that the GNP's candidate verification activities were insufficient to adequately address public concerns.

When respondents were asked about the candidates' governance capabilities and integrity based on the candidate verification process during the primaries, the evaluations of Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye's qualifications and integrity differed significantly. Lee Myung-bak received a favorable evaluation for governance capability, while Park Geun-hye received a favorable evaluation for integrity.

These contrasting evaluations are being reinforced among supporters of both candidates. While supporters of a candidate tend to give higher scores than the average, their evaluation of the candidate they do not support is lower than the average. For Lee Myung-bak's governance capability, 82.6% of his supporters responded it was sufficient, whereas only 42.9% of Park Geun-hye's supporters responded it was sufficient. For Lee Myung-bak's integrity, 50.4% of his supporters responded it was sufficient, while 69.3% of Park Geun-hye's supporters responded it was insufficient. For Park Geun-hye's governance capability, 86.6% of her supporters responded it was sufficient, while only 36.6% of Lee Myung-bak's supporters responded it was sufficient. For Park Geun-hye's integrity, 83.2% of her supporters responded it was sufficient, while 53.2% of Lee Myung-bak's supporters responded it was sufficient.
