At a time when cooperation between Korea and the U.S. is becoming even more crucial due to the North Korean nuclear crisis, there are external pressures such as the U.S. proceeding with the realignment and reduction of U.S. Forces Korea as part of its defense transformation policy, and internal developments where a sense of sovereignty is emerging, advocating for a transition to a partnership-based Korea-U.S. alliance that matches South Korea's economic development. Furthermore, neighboring countries surrounding the Korean Peninsula, including China and Japan, are also seeking opportunities to leap forward as global powers in the process of reorganizing into a new diplomatic order. EAI contributes to the formulation of South Korea's foreign policy by tracking and investigating how Koreans' perceptions of the U.S. and foreign countries are changing due to these shifts in the external environment.
