At a time when cooperation between South Korea and the United States is becoming even more crucial due to the North Korean nuclear crisis, the U.S. is proceeding with the redeployment and reduction of U.S. Forces Korea as part of its defense transformation policy externally, while internally, a sense of sovereignty is emerging, advocating for a transition to a partnership-based alliance between South Korea and the U.S. that aligns with South Korea's economic development. Furthermore, neighboring countries surrounding the Korean Peninsula, such as China and Japan, are also seeking opportunities to leap forward as global powers in the process of reorganizing into a new diplomatic order. EAI contributes to the formulation of South Korea's foreign policy by tracking and investigating how South Koreans' perceptions of the U.S. and foreign countries are changing due to these shifts in the external environment.
