The 2nd Citizen Political Panel Study

Recent discussions surrounding President Roh Moo-hyun's coalition proposal have intensified interest in the issues of political realignment and power structure reform. Furthermore, the political reform proposal passed by the National Assembly's Special Committee on Political Reform on June 29th is scheduled for a plenary session vote at the end of July. While the discussion on constitutional amendment, which had gained prominence following the election of Uri Party leader Chun Moo-il in April, has been postponed until after next year's local elections, the current political circles are hesitant to link coalition discussions to constitutional amendment.

However, as discussions on power structure reform led by the political sphere can only materialize with public support, it is necessary to examine the public's stance on the current constitutional amendment and coalition issues. Additionally, given that this matter is intricately tied to the sharp political interests of each party, the attitudes of different parties based on their political foundations are also of interest. EAI and the JoongAng Ilbo will conduct an in-depth analysis of public opinion trends regarding the political reform proposal, focusing on constitutional amendment and coalition discussions, and track the potential for changes in the current political structure.
