2018 Next Generation Conference

The East Asia Institute (EAI), in collaboration with the Korea Foundation (KF), conducts the [KF Korea Workshop] to enhance understanding of Korea and foster empathy among foreign residents in Korea.

On August 30, the Next Generation Conference was held at the Korea Foundation Global Center. This conference is part of the KF Korea Workshop program and is an academic paper competition based on six lectures on Korean studies. Professor Kim Ji-young of Soongsil University served as the judge, selecting outstanding papers through two rounds of blind reviews. The conference, moderated by Professor Kim Ji-young of Soongsil University, featured presentations and discussions on the selected outstanding papers of the year with EAI interns and participants from domestic and international universities and graduate schools who were alumni of Sarangbang.

The Grand Prize was awarded to Jekaterina Kalinova (China Foreign Affairs University) for her paper “A Path of Reconciliation and Cooperation: Exploring the Roots of Moon Jae-in’s Policy Towards North Korea,” and the Excellence Award was given to Diana Huaman Hidalgo (Yonsei University) for her paper “Prospective Challenges for South Korea Development in a Real Multicultural Society.”
