[KF Korea Workshop 1: Ko Young-hwan]

The East Asia Institute (EAI), in collaboration with the Korea Foundation (KF), is organizing the [KF Korea Workshop] to enhance understanding and foster empathy towards Korea among foreigners residing in the country.



As the first session of the 2018 Korea Workshop, we invited Ko Young-hwan, former Vice President of the Institute for National Security Strategy, to deliver a lecture on 'Inter-Korean Relations and Peace on the Korean Peninsula.' Mr. Ko, a former North Korean diplomat who served as interpreter for President Kim Il-sung and held positions such as Head of the Africa Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before defecting to the Republic of Korea in 1991, explained the changes in North Korea's political system and economic situation. He also shared his views on denuclearization and unification issues.
