[Future Vision Series for ROK-Japan Cooperation] "Towards a New Era 2.0 for ROK-Japan: Jointly Designing the International Order Through Cooperation"_Purpose of the Project

The East Asia Institute (EAI) presents the research outcomes of the joint ROK-Japan research team on the future vision for ROK-Japan cooperation, launched in 2021, in a working paper series. Published at a time when a new turning point in ROK-Japan relations is being prepared, following the announcement of the forced mobilization solution by the Yoon Suk-yeol administration in March 2023 and the ROK-Japan summit, this series explores the possibility of setting new goals for ROK-Japan relations and designing a sustainable and inclusive regional order. Specifically, it presents the roles of both ROK and Japan in managing the US-China strategic competition, new directions for ROK-Japan economic cooperation, and changes in trilateral relations among ROK, China, and Japan amidst US-China competition, along with measures to improve mutual perceptions.
